Case Description
Elena Grigorenko, a 60-year-old Ukrainian citizen, was abducted from her home in Starobilsk district of occupied Luhansk region on January 30, 2023. Subsequently, a criminal case was opened against her for espionage. According to the Russian investigation, in January 2023, the woman was collecting information about the locations of Russian military personnel in the LNR. According to the prosecution, she allegedly passed the obtained data to her 38-year-old son, who was in the Republic of Estonia, and he, in turn, reported this information to the Ukrainian special services. On 22 January 2025, the Supreme Court of the Luhansk People's Republic found Elena Grigorenko guilty and sentenced her to 15 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony. There is no information about appealing the verdict.
