Case Description
In Tolyatti at the end of March 2024, a criminal case was opened against a local resident, Eldar Mikailov, on charges of calling for "terrorism, mass riots, and "rehabilitation of Nazism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was posts on VKontakte about Putin and May 9th. According to the investigation, in February 2024 Eldar published a video allegedly calling for joining the "armed people's struggle" against Putin. Later, the security forces found three more VKontakte posts from 2020 and 2023 in which he allegedly 'devalued' the importance of Victory Day and rejected the 'decisive role' of the USSR in the victory over Nazi Germany. The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
