Case Description
On January 28, 2025, in St. Petersburg, 30-year-old local resident Eldar Kabardayev, a native of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, was detained. He was accused of publicly justifying terrorism and publicly calling for extremist activities. According to the investigation, on November 4 and December 2, 2022, Kabardayev published two comments in the Telegram chat "MUAZ KBK chat" justifying the activities of the Nogai and Circassian battalions. One of the comments began with the words "My brothers died..." and ended with the words . ..did not help." Kabardayev also attached files with instructions for making homemade explosive devices to the comments. Kabardaev himself claimed that he was acting within the framework of operational activities coordinated with FSB officers. FSB stated that Kabardayev was not recruited for cooperation. On January 29, 2025, the Dzerzhinsky District Court of St. Petersburg sent a defendant in the case into custody. November 17, 2025, the 1st Western Military District Court found Eldar Kabardayev guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in a general regime colony with a ban on administering internet resources for 3 years.
