Case Description
According to the investigation, the crime was committed at a rally of the Revolutionary-Patriotic Union of Krasnoyarsk on May 1, 2008, during which Fatinova gave a speech. According to the investigation, the statements of the well-known political activist contain "calls for actions aimed at violently changing the constitutional order and inciting social discord." Editors of the newspaper "Rabochy-Krestyansky Serp i Molot" Ekaterina Fatyanova and Vladimir Komarov were searched in Krasnoyarsk on July 28, 2023. During the search, Fatyanova's phone, two SIM cards, and an issue of the newspaper were seized. After that, the woman was interrogated at the regional FSB office. During the interrogation, the officers were interested in the material 'Symbols' from the newspaper, which is usually distributed at communist gatherings. The article discussed the use of the letter Z by Russian authorities. In January 2024, it became known that a criminal case was opened against Ekaterina Fatiyanova for repeated discrediting of the Russian army. The reason was that on May 9, 2023, she was distributing the newspaper 'Raboche-Krestyansky SERP I MOLOT' near the Theater Square of the city. Law enforcement officers saw in the mentioned issue of the newspaper a material under the heading 'Reflections on the Nature of Imperialism' and concluded that it contained discrediting of the Russian army." Earlier, Yekaterina had already been fined under an administrative article on the "discrediting" of the RF Armed Forces. On April 28, 2024, the court appointed Fatyanova a measure of restraint in the form of a prohibition of certain actions. Activists were prohibited from using the internet and telephone, except for communication with a lawyer, investigator, and mother, were prohibited from communicating with witnesses in the case, receiving and sending correspondence, visiting and participating in public events, and leaving the apartment from 9 PM to 7 AM. Ekaterina was also given an electronic bracelet. At the request of the investigation, Fatyanova was sent for a month-long inpatient forensic psychiatric examination, as a result of which she was found sane, without mental illnesses and disorders. On December 4, 2024, the Central District Court of Krasnoyarsk found Ekaterina Fatiyanova guilty and sentenced her to 2 years of compulsory labor. On April 10, 2025, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court left the verdict unchanged. On November 12, 2025, the Norilsk City Court of the Krasnoyarsk Krai changed Fatyanova's sentence and sent her to serve the remaining term in a settlement colony.
