Case Description
In early July 2025, a 51-year-old local resident, oncologist Egor Voshchinin, was detained in St. Petersburg. He was accused of public calls for terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was comments in pro-Ukrainian Telegram chats published on December 7 and 13, 2024. According to law enforcement officials, the man allegedly called for physical reprisals against the leadership of the Russian Federation. On July 3, 2025, the Vyborgsky District Court of St. Petersburg issued a ruling to choose a measure of restraint for the defendant in the form of detention.
