Case Description
At the end of August 2023, it became known about the criminal prosecution of military medic, sailor of the Baltic Fleet Egor Tyukin. The exact date and details of his detention are unknown. It is reported that he became a defendant in a criminal case in March 2023. Tyukina was accused of treason. Details of the charges were also not reported. In July 2023, the FSB reported for the first and only time about preventing a terrorist attack on a ship of the Black Sea Fleet. An explosive device was seized from the suspected military personnel. According to the special services, an attempt at a terrorist attack was thwarted on one of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet - a recruited serviceman of the Russian Navy allegedly planned to carry out an explosion. At that time, there was talk of opening a case not only about treason, but also about preparing a terrorist attack and illegal trafficking in explosives. On September 29, 2023, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Igor Tyukin guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in a strict regime colony. On January 17, 2024, the Appellate Military Court upheld the verdict.
