Case Description

On September 18, 2023, in St. Petersburg, two local residents were detained - 14-year-old Artemiy Doronin and 15-year-old Egor Laoskis. According to the investigation, the young men "acting against the interests of the Russian Federation and the special military operation, entered into a criminal conspiracy with a supporter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to commit a terrorist attack on the October Railway. It is claimed that the teenagers, following the instructions of their handlers, intended to set fire to a locomotive at the "Lakhta" railway station on September 15, 2023, but due to its absence, they set fire to a relay cabinet instead. During a search, Doronin's phone and laptop were seized, which had the coat of arms and flag of Ukraine on their screensavers. In the browser search history of the schoolboy, numerous queries on topics praising Hitlerite and Ukrainian nationalism, Nazi leaders Stepan Bandera and Vladimir Zelensky" were found. The teenagers were accused of committing a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. 6 May 2024, the 1st Western Military Court found both defendants guilty and sentenced Artemy Doronin to four years in prison and Egor Laoskis to two. Teenagers will serve their sentences in a juvenile correctional colony. Also, the court prohibited Doronin from administering internet resources for a year and a half. Lauskis was sentenced to a real prison term, as well as compulsory psychiatric observation and treatment. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
