Case Description
In Rostov-on-Don in January 2023, a 26-year-old local resident, a native of the Luhansk region, Eduard Cherevany, was detained." He was accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. According to the investigation, in the fall of 2016. Cherevan, being on the territory of Ukraine, joined a structural unit of the Azov battalion, after which he took part in the 'march of nations' held by Ukrainian nationalists on October 14, 2016, in Kyiv. Subsequently, Cherevany continued his participation in the activities of "Azov" after it was recognized by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on August 2, 2022, as a terrorist organization, conducting informational and agitation work among the residents of Rostov-on-Don, aimed at involving new individuals in the activities of this organization until his detention in January 2023. The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. On December 4, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Eduard Cherevany guilty and sentenced him to 14 years in a strict regime penal colony, with the first 5 years to be served in prison.
