Case Description
In the city of Schuchye, Kurgan Oblast, no later than December 2024, a criminal case was opened against 28-year-old local resident Dmitry Tau for "fakes" about the Russian army motivated by political hatred. Russian criminal prosecution was initiated based on a video published in July 2024 on VKontakte, which, according to investigators, contained "fakes" about the Russian army. It is unknown which specific videos are being charged against the man. Most likely, the man is in a pre-trial detention center. March 14, 2025, the Shchuchansky District Court of the Kurgan Region found Dmitry Tau guilty and sentenced him to 5 years of forced labor with a 10% deduction of wages for the state. Also, the court prohibited him from administering websites and pages on the Internet for 3 years. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
