Talantov Dmitriy Nikolaevich

In Izhevsk in June 2022, an attorney, president of the Bar Association, Dmitry Talantov, was detained. He was accused of publicly spreading knowingly false information about the actions of the Russian armed forces. The Investigative Committee for Southwest Moscow initiated the criminal case, so after the search and interrogation, Dmitry was transferred to Moscow. On June 29, the Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow sent the lawyer to a pre-trial detention center at the request of the investigation. The reason for initiating a criminal case was the lawyer's publications on Facebook, in which he called the actions of the RF Armed Forces in Mariupol, Irpen and Bucha "extremely Nazi practices. The investigation also believes that he took advantage of his official position. In September, the charges against Dmitry Talantov were aggravated: another article was added - inciting hatred or enmity. In total, Dmitry was charged with three counts under the article on spreading 'fakes' and two counts under the article on inciting hatred or enmity. Posts on Facebook also became the reason for initiating a case on inciting hatred or enmity. 28 November 2024, the Zavyalovsky District Court of the Udmurt Republic found Dmitry Talantov guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in a general regime colony. The court also prohibited the lawyer from engaging in the administration of websites and channels in the "Internet" network for 4 years. On October 31, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Udmurt Republic reduced the prison sentence to 6 years and 10 months.
