Case Description
In Kirov, no later than December 2024, a criminal case was opened against 53-year-old former security officer Dmitry Prozorov. The date of his detention is unknown. He was accused of spreading 'fakes' about the Russian army motivated by political hatred and enmity. According to the investigation, in 2022, Prozorov published comments in the city community "Typical Kirov" on the social network "VKontakte" dedicated to the events in Bucha. Comments contained claims about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to destroy cities, civilian infrastructure and the civilian population of Ukraine. For the duration of the investigation and trial, he was placed under a measure of restraint in the form of a written undertaking not to leave. From October 23 to November 20, 2024, he was undergoing a stationary forensic psychiatric examination. On February 26, 2025, the Leninsky District Court of Kirov found Dmitry Prozorov guilty and sentenced him to five years in a general regime penal colony. He was also banned for three years from engaging in activities related to publishing materials on the Internet. After the verdict was announced, Prozorov was taken into custody in the courtroom. 15 April 2025, the Kirov Regional Court left the sentence unchanged, and the appeals were not satisfied.
