In Stakhanov, in the occupied part of the Luhansk region, no later than January 2015, two Ukrainian citizens were detained: 25-year-old Dmitry Pravatorov and 28-year-old Ekaterina Kotenko." Pravatorov was accused of espionage on behalf of Ukraine, while Kotenko was accused of aiding espionage and collecting and transmitting information constituting a state secret. According to the LPR MGB, Pravotorov, on the orders of the SBU, engaged in espionage and selected candidates for recruitment in order to collect military information and data on servicemen of the LPR People's Militia. Kotenko, being the wife of a serviceman of the People's Militia, agreed to help Pravatorov and passed on to him information constituting a state secret. The defendants in the case were sent to a remand prison. By December 9, 2019, the Supreme Court of the Luhansk People's Republic found Dmitry Pravatorov and Ekaterina Kotenko guilty and sentenced Pravatorov to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property, and Kotenko to 12 years of imprisonment.
