Case Description
In the city of Starodub in the Bryansk region, no later than the beginning of June 2023 (the exact date is unknown), FSB officers detained 40-year-old local resident Dmitry Podstrygaev. According to the security forces, the man entered into a conspiracy with representatives of a pro-Ukrainian terrorist group banned on the territory of Russia. On the instructions of his curators, he photographed the military enlistment office and sent the photos to his accomplices, after which he received an assignment to blow up this building. He then retrieved explosives from a cache and planned to go to his city to receive further instructions from his curators, but was detained by security forces. The man was charged with attempted treason, aiding terrorism, and preparing to attack law enforcement officers. The court sent him to a pre-trial detention center. On May 7, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Dmitry Podstrygaev guilty and sentenced him to 18 years of imprisonment. He will spend the first three years in prison, and the remaining twelve years in a strict regime colony. On August 26, 2024, the Appellate Military Court upheld the verdict.
