Case Description
A criminal case was opened in Yoshkar-Ola, Republic of Mari El, for "fakes" about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred against local resident Dmitry Obmalkin, 39 years old. The date of the initiation of the case is unknown. Anti-war posts by Obmakin on VKontakte could have been the reason for criminal prosecution. Obmakin is outside of Russia. He was placed on the international wanted list. On June 6, 2024, the Yoshkar-Ola City Court found Dmitry Obmakin guilty and sentenced him in absentia to five years in a general regime colony. Also, the court imposed restrictive measures on Obmalkin, but it is unknown which ones exactly.
