In late March 2023, a criminal case was opened in Sochi against contract serviceman Dmitry Morozov. He was accused of refusing to participate in military or combat operations during the mobilization period. According to the investigation, on February 1, 2023, Morozov at the formation of the personnel of the military unit refused to carry out an order to depart to the territory of the special military operation. He explained his refusal by "convictions of conscience, concerns for his life and health, as well as the fact that he did not pass the military medical commission and did not receive full payment for participating in combat missions in 2022. During the trial, Dmitry Morozov admitted his guilt. During the investigation and trial, the defendant was under house arrest. June 28, 2023, the Sochi Garrison Military Court (Judge Igor Zhilin) found Dmitry Morozov guilty and sentenced him to 2 years 4 months in a penal colony-settlement. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
