Case Description
In Ivanovo, at the end of January 2025, 29-year-old local resident Dmitry Malyshev was detained. He was accused of aiding terrorist activities. According to law enforcement's version, the man posted a video on one of the social networks calling on Russian citizens to join the ranks of a Ukrainian paramilitary organization whose activities have been recognized as terrorist by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation. Moreover, six months before the criminal case was initiated, Malyshev deleted the link to the video he had posted and restricted access to his page. January 30, 2025, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Ivanovo placed the case defendant in a pre-trial detention center at the request of the investigation. On May 21, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Dmitry Malyshev guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in a prison and the remaining years in a strict regime penal colony. On August 20, 2025, the Appellate Military Court changed the verdict, details are unknown.
