On July 24, 2023, he was put on the wanted list. On April 12, 2024, the Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow chose a measure of restraint against Dmitry Khrapach in the form of detention in absentia. The measure of restraint will come into force from the moment of his detention on the territory of Russia or transfer to Russian law enforcement agencies. On August 28, 2023, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Dmitry Khrapach guilty in absentia and sentenced him to life imprisonment with serving the sentence in a strict regime penal colony. No later than August 2024, a second criminal case was opened against Khrapach: he was accused of organizing terrorist acts and committing acts of terrorism that resulted in significant material damage and human casualties. On September 4, 2024, the 2nd Western District Military Court also found Dmitry Khrapach guilty in absentia and, by combining the crimes, sentenced him to life imprisonment with serving the sentence in a special regime colony and a fine of 4 million rubles to the Russian Federation.
