Case Description
In Moscow in September 2022, a criminal case was opened against blogger Dmitry Ivanov (Kamikaze Di) for "fakes" about the Russian army. Charges were brought against him for his videos about the airstrike on the drama theater in Mariupul and his statements about Maria Zakharova, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to the prosecution's version, Ivanov, motivated by political hatred, hatred towards the armed forces of the Russian Federation and Putin as Supreme Commander-in-Chief and President, on March 17 and 18, 2022, published on his YouTube channel videos: "Putin celebrates the death of children in Ukraine" and "I was betrayed. Putin's fit over Biden's words and the war in Ukraine. In the videos, the blogger talked about a rocket strike on the drama theater in Mariupol and the death of civilians in Ukraine. Thus, in the prosecutor's opinion, Ivanov "wished for the occurrence of socially dangerous consequences in the form of forming a false opinion among citizens about the goals and objectives of the special military operation and increasing social tension in the country." In 2017, the blogger left Russia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs put the blogger on the wanted list. On May 7, 2024, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow issued an in absentia arrest warrant for Kamikaze Di. On October 21, 2024, a woman in a robe, Ksenia Panova, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow found Dmitry Ivanov guilty and sentenced him in absentia to 8 years in a general regime colony."
