Case Description
In the village of Belokurakino in the occupied part of Luhansk region in May 2022, the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the LNR detained local resident Dmitry Gnatyenko. He was accused of treason in the form of espionage. According to the investigation, Gnatenko collected and transmitted to the Security Service of Ukraine information about the locations of units of the People's Militia of the LPR and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He used a chatbot in the Viber messenger for this. The incoming information was analyzed and used to strike targets. The defendant in the case was placed in the SIZO. On September 29, 2022, the Supreme Court of the Luhansk People's Republic found Dmitry Gnatenko guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony. There is no information about appealing the verdict.
