The FSB allegedly prevented the diversion, but the device detonated at the moment of Dmitriev's detention. As a result, the man was injured, and two police officers suffered concussions. A few hours before that, pro-government media reported about a suspicious car parked near the building of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to one version, something suspicious was found in the cabin, after which 'they blew it up right on the hood.' 3. According to another version, these were exercises. A criminal case was opened against the Tver resident for committing a terrorist act. According to the version of the security forces, the explosion was ordered by telephone scammers from Ukraine, Dmitriev was their victim. Due to a phone scam, a man took out loans worth 5 million rubles, transferred them to "safe accounts, and then went to the police with an explosive device to "write off the debts." The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center. On August 6, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court considered the case in one session, found Dmitry Dmitriev guilty, and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony, with the first 4 years to be served in prison. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
