Case Description

In Moscow, on October 21, 2025, an 18-year-old student, Dmitry Bokov, was arrested outside his home. During the arrest, law enforcement used physical force, special means (handcuffs), choking techniques, electric shock weapons, and tortured him with electricity, even though he offered no resistance and did not attempt to flee.

According to Dmitry, the torture took place in a car: FSB officers used electric shocks and choking to force him to reveal his phone password. Afterward, the young man was taken home for a search. The presentation about his great-grandfather, who participated in the Battle of Kursk and Stalingrad, found on the computer, was labeled by the officers as a 'route to Ukraine,' while his younger brother's motorized toy was called a component for an explosive device.

At one point, the officers presented Dmitry with an unfamiliar blue Chinese Xiaomi Redmi phone. Later, this smartphone was 'found' to contain correspondence with unknown 'curators' and addresses of hiding places for weapons and ammunition.

Bokov was charged with preparing a terrorist act and participating in a banned terrorist organization as part of a group, motivated by ideological and political hatred toward the state.

According to the investigation, Bokov adhered to the ideology of the extremist neo-Nazi group NS/WP and maintained correspondence with unknown curators via messenger. Law enforcement believe that, under the direction of accomplices, the young man planned to carry out a mass killing on October 22, 2025 — to bomb and shoot congregants at the Muslim prayer house 'Iman' in Balashikha, Moscow Oblast. To prepare for the attack, the defendant attended hand-to-hand combat training, took driving lessons at a local driving school, practiced shooting, and moved homemade incendiary devices with cartridges to hiding spots in the Moscow region. Additionally, law enforcement included a visit by the accused to a military court, claiming he went there as an observer to 'morally support' radicalism and form views justifying violence.

On October 23, 2025, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow remanded the defendant in custody.

On October 6, 2026, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Dmitry Bokov guilty and sentenced him to 19 years in prison: the first 3 years in a prison facility, the remainder in a maximum-security penal colony.
