Case Description
On February 20, 2024, in St. Petersburg, 43-year-old local resident Dmitry Blinov was detained. According to the investigation, no later than February 18, Blinov, motivated by political hatred, used a can of green paint to inscribe the "insulting to the authorities" phrase "PUTIN IS A KILLER" on a transformer booth located at the address: street. Marshal Zakharova St., d. 11, building 2, lit. A, in the Krasnoselsky district of the city. A criminal case was opened against Dmitry Blinov under the article on vandalism motivated by political hatred. During the search, his phone, laptop, clothing in which Blinov allegedly painted graffiti, as well as someone else's passport with his own photo pasted in were seized. Before the measure of restraint was chosen, he was placed in a temporary detention center. On February 22, the Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg sent Blinov to a pre-trial detention center. On June 21, 2024, the magistrate of judicial district No. 95 of St. Petersburg found Dmitry Blinov guilty and sentenced him to one year of restriction of liberty. The court prohibited Blinov from leaving his place of permanent residence from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, visiting places of mass gathering of people and mass events, leaving the territory of the Yuzhno-Primorsky municipal formation, and changing his place of residence." Also, the court imposed on Blinov the obligation to appear twice a month at a specialized state body that supervises the serving of sentences by convicts for registration on the days established for him. Blinova was released from custody in the courtroom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
