Case Description
In Moscow on March 7, 2022, late in the evening, 26-year-old local resident and MIIT graduate Denis Zhuravlev was detained. A report on an administrative offense was drawn up against him under the article on petty hooliganism—allegedly the man was swearing in the stairwell. On March 9, the Ostankino District Court of Moscow sent Zhuravlyov to administrative arrest for 15 days. Zhuravlev was charged with attempted participation in the activities of an extremist organization while he was in a detention facility. The reason for the criminal prosecution was the Moscow resident's purchased tickets to Minsk and anti-war posts on VKontakte. On March 18, 2022, the Meshchansky District Court sent Zhuravlyov into custody. Later, another criminal case was initiated against Zhuravlev for — participation in an illegal armed formation." "August 15, 2022, the Ostankino District Court of Moscow terminated the case against Denis Zhuravlev and ordered him to be sent for compulsory psychiatric treatment. The court's decision was not appealed and entered into legal force.
