Case Description
In August 2023, a criminal case was initiated against MMA fighter from St. Petersburg Denis "Jedi" Zhivovsky for participating in an armed conflict for purposes that contradict the interests of the Russian Federation. The investigation claims that Dzhiovsky acted out of political, ideological hatred and enmity towards the military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation: knowing the goals of the SVO, he joined the ranks of the territorial defense of Kyiv, from where he took part in military actions against the Russian Federation, and then joined the ranks of the military formation "Russian Volunteer Corps", subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The reason for the criminal case was a video in which fighters of the "Russian Volunteer Corps" were filmed, among whom Dzhivovsky was noticed. Dzhivovsky left Russia back in 2020. Through Finland, he got to the territory of Ukraine on October 17. Dzhihovsky was put on federal wanted list, on November 28 - on international. On January 23, 2024, a court in St. Petersburg issued an arrest warrant for Dzhihovsky in absentia. The measure was chosen for 2 months from the moment of transfer of Dzhihovsky to the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation in case of extradition or deportation, or from the moment of actual detention on the territory of the Russian Federation.
