Case Description
In May 2022, a local resident Denis Batranin was detained in Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region. The reason for the detention was "working on involvement in the commission of a crime of an extremist nature." "The security forces who participated in his detention stated that the young man was pushing them and "banging his head against the door and windows of the car. Because of this, he was also sentenced to administrative arrest for 24 hours. A criminal case was opened against Batranin for vandalism motivated by political enmity. According to the investigation, in May 2022, Batranin painted graffiti on the walls of residential buildings and memorial complexes with the Ukrainian flag, the symbols of the "Freedom of Russia" legion, and inscriptions discrediting the President of Russia and the special military operation being conducted on the territory of Ukraine. On May 11, 2023, Batranin was sentenced, details are unknown.
