Mitrukhin Demid Nikolaevich

In Irkutsk, in December 2024, a 17-year-old schoolboy, Demid Mitrukhin, was detained. The reason for the arrest was certain flyers that the teenager had posted around the city. A criminal case was opened against the young man for involvement in an extremist organization, incitement to terrorism, and its financing. Details of the charges are unknown.

During the investigation, Demid was released under a written undertaking not to leave the country and to behave appropriately.

At the end of March, the teenager was detained in the city of Cheremkhovo, Irkutsk Oblast — he was taken off a train when he was trying to leave the country. According to his relatives, Demid was severely beaten during the arrest.

The boy was taken to a pre-trial detention center in Angarsk, where he was beaten again and warned that if he did not sign documents confessing to a 'purely heartfelt admission,' he would be placed in a cell where 'he would have it rough.' They threatened that his close female friend would be made an accomplice. Demid signed a protocol stating that he was traveling to Moscow to commit a terrorist act.

On March 28, 2025, the teenager was placed in the detention center.

Later, the charges against Demid were intensified — an article on high treason in the form of providing financial assistance to a foreign organization hostile to the Russian Federation was added. All cases were consolidated into a single proceeding.
