Case Description

Daoud Muradov, an 18-year-old native of Chechnya, was detained at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport on December 11, 2020, after being expelled from France. On the way to the North Administrative District Department of the FSB of Russia for Moscow and the Moscow Region, he was taken to a forest strip, stripped naked, beaten, doused with cold water, wires were attached to his legs and genitals, and he was tortured with electric current. They threatened Dau that they would kill him and bury him there on the spot. The pit had already been dug. In this way, he was forced to sign a confession - allegedly he was recruiting Russian citizens (residents of Chechnya) into the NWF. Muradova was accused of aiding terrorist activities, organizing a terrorist act, as well as illegal manufacture and trafficking of explosives as part of an organized group. According to the investigation, Muradov, while in France, recruited residents of Chechnya into illegal armed formations through Telegram and Instagram. Later, according to the investigation, he created and led a terrorist group that planned to carry out an explosion at the 'Uyut' cafe-billiard hall in Grozny. On December 11, 2020, the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow chose custody as a preventive measure for Daud Muradov. November 6, 2021, Muradova was transferred to Chechnya and placed in the SIZO-1 of Grozny. A few days later, on November 11, he was taken to the police department of the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny, where, according to our information, he was subjected to torture, being forced to admit to the acts he was accused of. The security forces offered Dauud to enter into a pre-trial agreement and plead guilty to all charges - they promised that in this case he would "only get 10 years. Despite pressure, threats and torture, Daoud did not plead guilty to organizing a terrorist attack and recruiting terrorists. On the night of February 5-6, 2022, Dauud Muradov died in a hospital in Grozny. According to the official version, on February 5 he felt unwell, and an ambulance took him to the Republican Hospital in Grozny, where he died in the night of February 6. At first, relatives were told that Daud had allegedly died of kidney failure, but the death certificate states 'sudden cardiac death'. The investigator claims that a forensic examination of the body was carried out, but refuses to provide it to relatives. Daoud's body was never returned to his relatives. The case was terminated due to the death of the accused.
