Case Description
In Moscow in April 2024, a criminal case was opened for justifying terrorism against Daria Bogdanova, the great-granddaughter of pilot Valery Chkalov. The reason for the criminal prosecution was Bogdanova's video debate with journalist Oleg Kashin, which was published by the publication "Kholod" at the end of January 2024 on its YouTube channel. According to the investigation, the woman was collecting funds for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and 'calling for a nuclear strike on Moscow.'", 5. The case was initiated based on a denunciation by Vitaly Borodin. Bogdanova herself is not in Russia. In May 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Bogdanova was wanted. On November 1, 2024, the Izmailovsky District Court of Moscow issued an arrest warrant for Bogdanova in absentia.
