Case Description
In Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol Krai, in April 2024, a criminal case was initiated on charges of "fakes" about the Russian army on the grounds of political enmity against activist Danila Kharkhenko. The activist's parents were questioned as witnesses, and in May their house was searched. The reason for the criminal prosecution was posts in the group "Mineralnye Vody Revelations" on VKontakte about the murders of civilians by the Russian army in the Ukrainian city of Bucha, which was published on July 19, 2023, and a post from July 22 of the same year about relatives of mobilized individuals from Blagodarny (Stavropol Krai) complaining to Vladimir Putin that their loved ones were sent to the front line "without air support." "'Puylo's plan is being successfully implemented — anyone capable of holding a weapon in their hands must be destroyed. Only women should remain, who, even with the greatest desire, will not be able to come with pitchforks and drive out this gang, and the rest will submit." This is the plan to ensure the security of Putin's chekist-bandit kleptocratic regime. It's time to stop asking and start demanding, together with our husbands." Russia will be free,' Kharchenko wrote in the publication. The activist himself is not in Russia. On 23 January 2023, the Mineralnye Vody City Court of the Stavropol Territory found Danila Kharcheko guilty and sentenced him in absentia to 7 years in a general regime colony and deprivation of the right to administer websites on the Internet for 3 years."
