The young men were accused of damaging memorial burial sites and monuments as part of a group of individuals by prior agreement, and of vandalism." On March 28, 2024, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow placed both students under house arrest. Later, hooliganism motivated by political hatred was added to the charges. On November 18, 2024, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow found the defendants guilty and sentenced Daniil Golikov to 2.5 years and Andrey Kozlovsky to 3 years in a penal colony-settlement. The young men were taken into custody in the courtroom. On July 8, 2025, the Moscow City Court left the verdict unchanged.
