Case Description

On November 28, 2024, in Ufa, the FSB announced the detention of members of a 'radical libertarian group' called 'Nihilistic Libertarian Propaganda.' Law enforcement officers published a video of the search, in which they broke down the doors, and then showed the premises where various weapons were laid out, as well as white-blue-white flags and flags of the USA, NATO, Ingria, libertarianism, anti-nationalist stickers and rock group paraphernalia, as well as portraits of Valeria Novodvorskaya. One of the detainees was a 29-year-old activist, Chingiz Bermukhametov, known in the opposition chats of Bashkortostan under the nickname Asian Freak. The names of the other "participants" in the group are not reported. Initially, it was reported that criminal cases were opened against the detainees for committing terrorist acts and public calls for terrorist activity. According to law enforcement officers, the defendants participated in "a series of arson attacks on military enlistment offices and attacks on police officers, and the organizers were allegedly members of the "Russian Volunteer Corps" banned in Russia. It is not reported which specific military enlistment offices and police are being referred to. Chingiz Bermukhametov was accused of public calls for terrorism. According to the security forces' version, he "was responsible for the group's work on social networks." In one of the publications, he allegedly wrote: "Do not touch nature. Better burn military commissariats and assembly points. Destroy tanks, fighter jets, missiles and other military crap. To hell with war, military service and the army. During the investigation, the activist was placed in custody. Russian political prisoner. On November 12, 2025, the Central Military District Court found Chingiz Bermukhametov guilty, the punishment is unknown, but it is not related to imprisonment: the man was released from custody in the courtroom.
