Case Description
In May 2023, 23-year-old local resident Boris Khotov was detained in the Stavropol Territory. He was accused of participating in the activities of an extremist organization. According to the investigation, in April 2022, while serving his sentence in the FKU IK-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Stavropol Territory, he joined the ranks of the extremist organization 'Right Sector' banned in Russia, recording and sending an audio message with an oath of allegiance to this organization. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen for the defendant. On January 30, 2024, the Kochubeyevsky District Court of the Stavropol Territory found Boris Khotov guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony with a restriction of freedom for 1 year and deprivation of the right to engage in activities in the field of information and telecommunications technologies for 1 year. 10 April 2024, the Stavropol Regional Court left the sentence unchanged.
