Case Description
On July 25, 2023, in Moscow, a search was conducted at the home of the well-known sociologist, Shaninka teacher, and editor-in-chief of the online media "Rabkor" Boris Kagarlitsky in a case of justifying terrorism, after which he was detained. In the case of Kagarlitsky, a search was also conducted in Moscow at the home of psychologist Alexander Archagov, who streamed on the YouTube channel "Rabkor, photographer Valery Tenevoy, and at the home of the Kagarlitsky family's friend in Yekaterinburg, Artem Yerofanov, one of the administrators of the Telegram channel "Rabkor. During the search, equipment was seized and he was taken in for questioning. After questioning, all three were released as witnesses. Since the case was initiated by the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Komi, after Kagalitsky's detention, he was taken to Syktyvkar. 26 July Syktyvkar City Court remanded him in custody. The reason for the criminal prosecution was the title of the video published on the YouTube channel "Rabkor" on October 18, 2022 - "Explosive congratulations from cat Mostik, Nervous people and events, Strikes on infrastructure. According to the investigation, by naming the video Kagalitsky gave "a positive assessment of the actions of unidentified individuals in committing a terrorist act on 08.10.2022 at the 77th kilometer of the automobile component of the transport crossing over the Kerch Strait between Tuzla Island and the Crimean Bridge arch." On December 12, 2023, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Boris Kagarlitsky guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 600 thousand. rubles and a ban on administering websites for 2 years. On February 13, Judge Alexander Mordovin of the Appellate Military Court replaced a fine with 5 years in a general regime colony. Kagalitsky was again taken into custody in the courtroom.
