Case Description
In Simferopol, in annexed Crimea, no later than October 2023, a criminal case was opened against a 50-year-old local resident, Boris Kadochnikov, for cooperating on a confidential basis with a foreign state to the detriment of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, the man, from September 2022 to October 2023, through a messenger, established contact with a representative of the Ukrainian security service and expressed his willingness to cooperate. On the assignment of his 'curator,' he retrieved four SIM cards from a cache, two of which he transported and placed in a sparsely populated area, the coordinates and photographs of which he sent to a Ukrainian security service officer. For his actions, Kadochnikov received 4 thousand. rubles. For the duration of the investigation, the Crimean was sent to a pre-trial detention center. On December 17, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea found Boris Kadochnikov guilty and sentenced him to 4 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony with a 1.5-year restriction and a fine of 300 thousand. rubles. March 12, 2025, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction changed the verdict, details unknown. On November 27, 2025, the Supreme Court of Russia overturned the verdict due to the need to re-qualify the charge under a more serious article - treason, and returned the case to the investigation stage in the prosecutor's office.
