Case Description
In Donetsk, Rostov region, on July 12, 2022, 37-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Boris Dovganyuk, was detained. He was accused of participating in the activities of the extremist organization 'Right Sector' and inciting another person to participate in it. According to the investigation, from January 2014 to June 2016, Dovganyuk participated in the activities of an extremist organization and also attempted to recruit another person into its ranks. The defendant in the case was placed in the SIZO. November 15, 2022, the Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region found Boris Dovganyuk guilty and sentenced him to 4 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. For the episode of participation in an extremist organization, Dovganyuk was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment, but was immediately released from this punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. On January 17, 2023, the Rostov Regional Court changed the verdict and mitigated the punishment under the article on incitement to participate in extremist activities to 3 years and 10 months of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. In the rest of the part, the court's decision was left unchanged.
