Nachkebiya Avtandil Valeryanovich (Nakchebiya)

In Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, at the end of September 2013, a 52-year-old former serviceman of the Black Sea-Azov Border Department of the FSB was detained on charges of treason, and then Major of the Reserve Avtandil Nachkebia. According to the investigation, in 1995 Nachkebia was recruited by Georgian special services. Between 2007 and 2011, he allegedly passed them secret information about the deployment of radio intelligence posts, intelligence activities, and the radio interception and eavesdropping systems installed by Russian special services. He was also accused of revealing the affiliation of several FSB employees to the personnel of operational units and receiving 3,300 lari for this, as well as repeated one-time payments ranging from $200 to $250." For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On December 10, 2013, the North Caucasian District Military Court found Avtandil Nachkebia guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony. 20 May 2014, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation left the sentence unchanged.
