Case Description
In the city of Sukhodolsk in the occupied part of the Luhansk region, a criminal case for espionage was opened against Artem Matveev, a local resident and citizen of Ukraine. The date of his detention is unknown. According to the Russian investigation, in January 2023, Matveev voluntarily collected information about the deployment locations of Russian military personnel on the territory of the LPR and transmitted it to representatives of Ukrainian special services via internet messengers. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. No later than September 5, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Lugansk People's Republic found Artem Matveev guilty and sentenced him to 17 years in prison with serving the sentence in a strict regime correctional colony.
