At the request of the investigation, all defendants in the case were sent to the SIZO. According to the testimony of some defendants, after the detention, they were subjected to harsh psychological effects and torture. They were electrocuted, subjected to techniques 'humiliating to a man's honor,' and threatened with harm to their relatives and loved ones. Before their detention, the men were not acquainted with each other and first heard about the existence of the 'Magas jamaat'. The investigators named 36-year-old entrepreneur Elman Sadirov as the organizer of the cell. Until 2016, he lived in Langepas. According to him, his initial testimony was given under torture, and the case materials were fabricated by the former investigator from Nizhnevartovsk, Rinat Shayakhmetov. The man claimed that Shayakhmetov had extorted 3 million rubles from him. Ex-investigator promised to reclassify the case under a less severe article for this. Also among the detainees is the surgeon of the district hospital of Buynaksky district of Dagestan Osman Osmanov. Investigators claim that in 2014 he organized a "terrorist cell" in the city of Megion, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra. But the doctor's relatives claim that at that time he was living in Dagestan. On May 26, 2023, an impromptu rally was held in Osmanov's native village demanding the release of the surgeon.
