Case Description
On March 20, 2023, Artemiy Perevozchikov, a student from the village of Debesy in the Udmurt Republic, was detained in Izhevsk. The reason for the detention was the inscriptions that, according to law enforcement, the student made on the embankment and on one of the fences in the city: "Freedom to Navalny", No to war!", Russian soldier — fascist occupier" and others. Administrative offense report was drawn up against the young man under the article on discrediting the army. Law enforcement officers examined a Samsung mobile phone belonging to Perevozchikov and took explanations in which the young man explained that he "supports the position of Navalny's Headquarters, including on the issue of conducting the SVO. Also, Perevozchikov explained that he received instructions regarding the inscriptions on the Navalny Headquarters website. On the night of March 20, after midnight, he took a can of red paint, went outside, and used the can to write "No to War" on the railings and in the snow on the hill. He understands that any inscriptions made on the street, including advertisements, carry a certain semantic load and are aimed at forming a certain public opinion. The Russian soldier is a fascist, an occupier" definitely creates a negative opinion about Russian servicemen. Perhaps it was these explanations within the framework of the case on an administrative offense that became the reason for the criminal case: two days after the detention, on March 23, the Industrial District Court of Izhevsk sent Perevozchikov to a pre-trial detention center under the article on participation in the activities of the extremist organization "Navalny's Headquarters. On August 26, 2024, the Industrial District Court of Izhevsk found Artemy Perevozchikov guilty and sentenced him to 2.5 years in a general regime colony. The court also sentenced Perevozchikov to 10 months of restriction of liberty and a ban on administering internet resources and holding mass events for 2 years. November 19, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Udmurt Republic left the sentence in force.
