Case Description
In annexed Sevastopol in June 2023, 27-year-old local resident Arseniy Dyachkin was detained. He was accused of illegal acquisition, storage, and carrying of explosives. According to the Russian investigation, in May 2023, the man took TNT from a certain Konstantin Shevchenko and stored it in the Kommunarov cemetery. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On November 20, 2023, the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol found Arseniy Dyachkin guilty in a case involving the illegal circulation of explosives and sentenced him to six years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 350 thousand. rubles. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force. Later, another criminal case was opened against Dyachkin — for treason. According to the security forces, the Crimean man was recruited by an SBU employee, and from September 2022 to April 2023, while in Sevastopol, he collected and passed information about the location of fortifications in Sevastopol Bay to foreign intelligence. On September 5, 2024, the Sevastopol City Court found Arseniy Dyachkin guilty in a treason case and, by combining the sentence with a previous verdict, sentenced him to 16 years in a strict regime penal colony, with a 1-year restriction of freedom and a fine of 450 thousand. rubles.
