Case Description
Arsen Martaleishvili, a 46-year-old resident of Estonia without citizenship, was detained in Moscow in May 2016. He was accused of espionage. According to the investigation, the Estonian passed secret information about Russia's Western Military District to the Estonian special services. The details of the charges are unknown. The court placed the defendant in custody. On April 3, 2017, the Moscow City Court found Arsen Mardaleishvili guilty and sentenced him to 11 years in a strict regime colony. On June 20, 2017, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation left the verdict unchanged.
