Case Description
In December 2024, 35-year-old local resident Arina Ivanova was detained in Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region. She was accused of 'fakes' about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a comment in the social network VKontakte of the following content: "Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, when videos began to appear with Russian prisoners who all said that they did not know where they were going and that they were generally going to exercises and did not intend to fight, I asked myself the question: "Why do these people continue to kill if they did not want to? Why don't they lay down their arms? Why won't they refuse? In response, I heard some excuses about the fact that if they did so, they would be handed over to a tribunal. And you know, looking at these videos where frightened teenagers (it's no longer a secret that there are plenty of conscripts there) explain themselves almost in tears, I even felt somewhat sorry for them. After all, they are supposedly obliged to carry out the order of their superiors, because it is not their initiative. I felt sorry for them right up until those "soldiers" left Bucha and the whole world saw their "exploits" in all their glory! "Hundreds killed, 90% of whom were shot, not died from shrapnel wounds and other injuries. Just think about it! People were tied up by their hands and shot in the back of the head! Dozens of raped women! The city was completely looted! Stole everything - from washing machines to, excuse me, women's underwear!!! Here are the Russians in all their glory! What excuse will there be this time? "It is reported that these routes are used to supply equipment for the war with Ukraine." No. This is the initiative of those very "unfortunate" weeping conscripts! Recently, news has been appearing that more and more military personnel are refusing to go to war in Ukraine. This is certainly a drop in the ocean, but I want to believe that seeing people like this who were not afraid to disobey an order, other military personnel who still have a shred of conscience and honor will also lay down their arms and put an end to this senseless war!", On December 24, 2024, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. Earlier, in November 2023, Ivanov was fined in a case of an administrative offense under the article on public demonstration of extremist organization symbols and discrediting the use of the RF Armed Forces." 4. The reason for bringing him to justice was a publication in Telegram of a phrase that "is used as a slogan by Ukrainian nationalists, while in 2014 the Supreme Court recognized a number of Ukrainian nationalist organizations as extremist. It is most likely referring to the slogan "Glory to Ukraine!. August 13, 2025, the Kuibyshev District Court of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast, found Arina Ivanova guilty and sentenced her to 5 years in a general regime colony and deprived her of the right to administer websites on the Internet for 2 years. On November 12, 2025, the Kemerovo Regional Court left the verdict unchanged.
