Case Description
In the morning of November 20, 2023, in the village of Gornostaevka in the occupied Kherson region, 27-year-old former Ukrainian serviceman Ruslan Rusnak was abducted from his home. He was brought to the building of the so-called "OMVD of Russia "Gornostaevsky", in the premises of the former IVS. The man was suspected of allegedly passing information about the location of the building to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, although his address and exact geolocation are freely available on the Internet. At 16:00 on the same day, after hours of interrogation by Russian security forces, Ruslan Rusnak died. Presumably, he was tortured to death. A few days after Rusnak's arrest in Gornostaevka, at least 6 more peaceful civilians were detained - two young men were released after a few days, while at least three of the detainees disappeared without a trace. These are twin brothers Ivan and Anton Shtepa and 23-year-old Denis Shum. Since then, nothing is known about their fate.
