Case Description
On April 4 and 5, 2022, security forces detained local residents Anton Malyshev and Artyom Krikunov in the Lugansk region. According to the investigation, on March 12, 2022, Malyshev, being in the Lugansk People's Republic, having grenades, electric detonators, explosives, as well as other items, entered into a preliminary conspiracy with Krikunov to commit a terrorist act. In addition, in August 2021. Malyshev illegally acquired narcotic drugs for personal use, which he illegally stored at his place of residence. Krikunova and Malysheva were accused of preparing for a terrorist attack by a group of persons and illegal storage of explosives. Malyshev was also charged with illegal possession of drugs without intent to sell. They were sent to a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. On August 15, 2023, the Southern Military District Court found Anton Malyshev and Artyom Krikunov guilty and sentenced Malyshev to 7 years in a strict regime correctional colony, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and Krikunov to 5 years in a strict regime correctional colony, with the first 3 years to be served in prison. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
