Case Description
In Mariupol, occupied Donetsk region, no later than March 2023, a criminal case was opened against 20-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anna Kaplan on charges of espionage. She was detained by employees of the FSB of Russia in the DNR. According to the investigation, in March 2023, Kaplan, who lived in Mariupol, using messengers, transmitted to an employee of the Ukrainian Security Service information with coordinates about the location of personnel of one of the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, located in the city." The court placed the defendant in the case under arrest. On October 1, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk Republic found Anna Kaplan guilty and sentenced her to 10 years in a general regime colony. On February 25, 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
