Case Description
In August 2022, it became known that criminal cases were opened against Alexei Navalny's associates for spreading knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and publicly justifying terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was statements made on the air of "Popular Politics. Anna Biryukova, head of the sociological service of FBK, is charged with justifying terrorism. According to the investigation, Biryukova stated the need to set fire to military enlistment offices. In December 2023, Biryukov was put on wanted list. In January 2024, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow placed Anna Biryukova under house arrest in absentia. The court ruled to count the term of arrest from the moment of extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of her detention on the territory of the Russian Federation.
