Case Description
In Moscow in August 2023, a Twitch streamer Anna Bazhutova, known by the nickname YokoBovich, was detained. She was accused of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army motivated by political hatred. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a stream conducted on April 2, 2022. The broadcast was closed and available only to registered adult users. The streamer played Disco Elysium and chatted with her audience. At some point, the streamer read out stories from the residents of Bucha, wrote on a piece of cardboard that 300 people in Bucha were killed by Russian soldiers, said the phrase "death to Russian occupiers, and called for "re-killing" the people responsible for this. 18 August 2024, the Ostankino District Court of Moscow sent Bazhutov to a pre-trial detention center. 5 June 2024, the Ostankino District Court of Moscow found Anna Bazhutova guilty and sentenced her to 5.5 years in a general regime penal colony. December 9, 2024, the Moscow City Court upheld the sentence.
