Case Description
Andrei Zhvakin, a 30-year-old local anti-war activist and former entrepreneur, died during his arrest in the Samara region in mid-March 2024. Allegedly, the explosive device exploded in Zhvakin's hands when he tried to escape from security forces. According to the FSB, Zhvakin intended to detonate a bomb at a 'humanitarian aid collection point of one of the volunteer organizations' for monetary reward. The FSB claims that the man from Samara was recruited by Alexander Kudashev, who left for Ukraine last summer and joined the RDK. During a search at the defendant's place of residence, the agency's employees allegedly discovered a laboratory for the production of explosives, components for their manufacture, as well as one ready-to-use homemade explosive device. Furthermore, the FSB stated that correspondence with a curator and materials confirming his involvement in terrorist activities coordinated by the Ukrainian special services were found on the deceased's phone. A criminal case was opened against Zhvakin for preparing a terrorist attack. Posthumously.
