Case Description
1. In Irkutsk, no later than the beginning of September 2023 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was initiated against local resident Andrey Pkhiteyev on charges of justifying terrorism. According to the investigation, Pkhiteyev posted a comment "regarding the terrorist act committed on October 8, 2022, on the Crimean Bridge, aimed at justifying the ideology and practice of terrorism, stating that he recognized it as correct, in need of support and imitation" in free access on the Internet. The chosen measure of restraint is unknown. On February 27, 2024, the 1st Eastern District Military Court found Andrey Pkhiteyev guilty and sentenced him to three years in a general regime colony. The court also prohibited Pkhiteyev from posting publications on the Internet for two years. The verdict was appealed and entered into force.
