Case Description
In August 2021, in Tula, a 41-year-old Ukrainian citizen Andrey Petkevich was detained at an auto service center. During a search of the man, they allegedly seized design documentation for a Russian underbarrel grenade launcher, as well as the grenade launcher itself. After the detention, the man was escorted to Moscow, where on August 20, 2021, the Lefortovo District Court of the city, at the request of the investigation, chose a measure of restraint for the Ukrainian in the form of detention. He was accused of espionage. According to the FSB, Andrei Petkevich, on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence, attempted to recruit employees of Russian defense enterprises to obtain classified information from them about the development of small arms. February 15, 2023, the Tula Regional Court found Andrei Petkevich guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in a strict regime colony. 22 May 2023, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
